Buesing (FL) I had a wonderful opportunity to go to the National Flight Academy this past summer. The National Flight Academy sounds like a lot of math that might be really hard, but it’s not. While there, I became close friends with my chiefs, Star and Mop. I became friends with everyone in my squadron on day one. There was constant action, and whether we were in the simulators or the ready room or the radar room, it was always fun. We were even on a model aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Ambition. Spaces camps are great. I am looking forward to going to one next year. I would recommend the National Flight Academy to anyone who wants to have fun and an adventure. 2016 SPACES Camp at the National Flight Academy By YM/SGT Drezden Hicks Jefferson Parish Sheriffs Office (LA) On my SPACES trip, I went to the ORME adventure in Arizona. I met fellow Young Marines from all over the United States. We were divided into five different squads; the Orange Strikers, Blue Angels, Red Hawks, Yellow Bandits, and (the best group) Green Swanda. Yes, that was my group. Each day we took part in different activities, such as horseback riding, jewelry making, swimming and we even climbed a 40 foot rock wall. We also went kayaking and built a catapult. These activities were designed to instill team-building skills. We were giv- en time to hang out with our new friends and to get to know them. This is very important when trying to develop team-building skills. The highlight of my trip was when Young Marines National Executive Director Colonel Bill Davis came to visit us. Thank you for your interest, sir. I thank the adult staff for mak- ing our stay fun, interesting and safe. Also, thank the National Young Marines for giving me the opportunity to meet a great group of Young Marines. We made a lot of lasting memories.
