Torri Preston was born in 1989 and grew up in the vicinity of Lithonia, GA. At the age of eight, he joined the General Raymond G. Davis Metro Atlanta (GA) Young Marines, something he credits for much of the development of his academic performance and physical prowess. Young Marine Preston stayed in the Young Marines program until his graduation from Rockdale County High School in 2007,where he served as Valedictorian of his graduating class. He received a Congressional Nomination and was accept- ed to United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD. There, Torri Preston pursued dual Bachelors of Science degrees in Economics and Political Science. He was also a member of the Navy Football team and later became part of the team’s coaching staff prior to attending The Basic School. He was later deployed with the special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response Team in Al Taqaddum, Iraq. While on this deployment, Preston encountered numerous other officers and enlisted personnel who were former Young Marines. An impressive career in the United States Marines followed, as Preston’s assignments and responsibilities increased. An extensive list of his accom- plishments includes the areas of planning, coordinating and successful execution of com- plex logistical requirements. Capt Preston’s numerous awards include the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Operation Inher- ent Resolve Campaign Medal, the Outstanding Volunteers Sevrvie medal, the Colonel Charles Denton Young Military Leadership Award, the National NavalOfficers Association Dis- tinguished Service Award and a commendation from the 6th Division Young Marines for his continued volunteer service to Young Marines units aboard Camp Pendleton. In May of 2017, Capt Preston transitioned from active duty to the Marine Corps Reserve as an operational/Civil Affairs Of- ficer with the 4th Civil Affairs Group in Hialeah, FL. Currently, Preston is working as a defense contractor and business management consultant at the Penta- gon. Volunteering and mentoring are activities that remain at the cornerstone of the values held by Capt Preston. He is involved in mentoring young engineers as well as youth. He volunteers with the Young Marines program to promote the men- tal, moral, physical and leadership development of our members. “I am proud to be a part of it”, he stated. “Glad to know that the Young Marines program is in good hands”.
