On March 17, eleven Young Marines graduated at the cer- emony for Santa Clarita Valley’s Graduating Class of 1801. We honored MGySgt Edgar D. Bressell on his 40 years in the United States Marine Corps and 29 years of service in the Los An- geles Police Department. MGySgt. Bressell participated in the Atomic Test in the Mar- shall Islands, was a Drill Instruc- tor at MCRD San Diego, Califor- nia three separate times. He was a criminal investigator for 2 years and an MP among other as- signments while in the Marine Corps. As a Los Angeles Police Officer, he was Class Drill Instruc- tor for the Police Academy, a Police Patrol Officer, an Accident Investigator,a Drill Instructor for Internal Affairs and also a De- tective. Paras. -- Submitted by Catherine Hagopian, Santa Clarita Valley (CA) Young Marines On February 10, YM/LCpl Maylani Cornier was recognized at the Anne Loucks Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) in Martinez, CA.At the event, three members from local high school JROTC programs, two members from Civil Air Patrol,one member from U.S.Naval Sea Cadet Corps,and YM LCpl Cornier from Golden Gate (CA) Young Marines were awarded the Silver DAR Outstanding Cadet Medal. NSDAR is a women's service organization which promotes patriotism, works to preserve American history, and strives to improve education for America's children. Both Agents came to us on their days off to do the presentation, and even awarded a few of our Young Marines their local DEA Patch.
