The adult staff in our regiment invites the senior Young Marines from each unit. Friday is the dedicated travel day and also the day that the Regimental Young Marine of the Year (YMOY) board takes place. The fol- lowing day, Saturday, the adult staff and Young Marines split into separate areas. The staff will proceed to talk about new ideas to be imple- mented, and maybe some instructional classes on how to run their units. During that time, Young Marines are in our own area having a mini symposium. On average, 25-30 Young Ma- rines attend. We network and all work together to come up with ideas to improve the Regiment. With information and ideas being presented, we create a power point presenta- tion to show these ideas and how to implement them. This is presented to the adult staff at our banquet that evening. Deciding what to include in the presentation is hard work, but it gives us a chance to hear many ideas and opinions from Young Marines within our Regiment. The time together is also filled with fun. We get to meet get to know our Senior Regimental Young Marine staff and sometimes even our National YMOY. This creates friendships and opens doors for communi- cation throughout the year. We learn abouit ideas and skills to bring back to our units. I feel because of this weekend each year I’ve become a better leader. After a long day of working together and learning, we have our annual Regimental Banquet. This is where the Regimental YMOY, Regimental unit, and Regimen- tal Registered Adult of the Year are announced. This year our National Executive Director was our guest speaker as well as our National YMOY. This is a great time to get to know them and the Regimental Adult Staff. The Regimental ALC is a weekend that helps our adults as well as the senior Young Marines to make our great Regiment even greater.
