Through meaningful engagement and support of lifelong connections, the Young Marines Alumni Association (YMAA) aims to strengthen all Young Marines – past, present, future. ALUMNI ASSOCIATION Our Mission By YM/SgtMaj Joseph J. Bacon 2016 National Young Marine of the Year It is an honor to be named the Nation- al Young Marine of the Year this year. I look forward to working with Head- quarters and making this great program even greater. I do want all of your opinions and encourage you to email me on what you believe is going good in the Young Marine program and what you believe can be changed. Every one of your opinions matters to me. This program is great because it is run by Young Marines and not just adults, as are other programs. I will be visiting some of your units and that is another excellent time to give your opinion on what you think we can change; regardless of your age, rank or billet. By having those three things change it will give me a wide range of viewpoints and will let me make decisions on what you and all of the Young Marines want. I highly value this program because of ev- erything that it has done for me and I hope you all feel the same way. I would also like to congratulate YM/CPL Michael Fitzsimmons and YM/LCL Giovan- nie Altamirano on both of your outstanding jobs staying calm and collected while chaos was unleashed around you. I am personally very proud of both of you. [Editor’s Note: These Young Marines were present during a lockdown situation at the U.S. Capitol last March.]. I would also like to wish YM SgtMaj Lucas Ward (2015 National Young Marine of the Year) good luck with his future endeavors and thank him for all of his great advice. I look forward to this upcoming year and I hope all of you enjoy the summer. Respectfullly, YM/SgtMaj Joseph J. Bacon I highly value this program because of everything it has done for me and I hope you feel the same way. ESPRIT ONLINE | Page 3
